The Knit Pixie found her next words and sewed them onto two new squares. She took them with her on her trip to Wonderwool, where she mingled among her kin, looking for people to gift them to.
As luck would have it, she met two wonderful women, fellow knitters, who were happy to take them and tag them in their home towns.
Another offered to take the blue flowery one with her on a trip to Germany.
The Knit Pixie was excited about these new connections, the feeling of the web of connections spreading outwards, and couldn't wait to make the next ones, sewing a little piece of magic into every one, for someone to see unexpectedly, as they went about their day.

Out in the big wide world

The knit pixie tagged her first few places excitedly, wondering who might notice them and what they would think. Her plan was to put these tags around the places she visited, to mark her journeys, and while this was fun they seemed a bit too spread out.

Also, she wanted these to become a talking point, so decided that another tactic was in order. What could she add that would have a little more impact? She decided that she would like to put some positive messages out there for people to see. She also decided that she would concentrate these in the place she loved most, her own community, and spread out from there. But how was she going to do this?

Time was of the essence, she needed to get her thinking cap on, so she grabbed a notebook and her knitting needles and got to work....

Sitting in her cosy chair, with the view of the mountains, the knit pixie started knitting her squares, then experimented with different ways of making knitted flowers, added buttons and other things, and before long, the first three squares were complete.

She decided to put labels on them so people would have a link to her blog, and while waiting for these to arrive, she started on the next ones....

The beginning....

The knit pixie had long dreamed of being one of those creatures that churned out lots of beautifully knitted clothes, hats, gloves, you name it, but the world of knitting patterns and tension squares filled her with fear and dread. "I'll never be able to make such beautiful things", she thought.

However, one day she was walking along Bristol dockside outside the Arnolfini and noticed the most beautiful knitted things. But these weren't jumpers, or hats, no! (at least not of the people kind!). The railings were beautifully knitted in all sorts of bright colours, and the very sight of it made her heart sing, and then she had an idea. "I can do that", she thought.

She asked her friends to teach her the basic knit and purl stitches, and armed with these, she decided that she would just play about and see what happened. She would knit square pieces, and then play about with decorating them, and leave these pieces of "magic" everywhere she went, in the hope that they would brighten someone else's day.

After some research, she discovered that there were many others out there who loved to do this too, often with the most amazing skills, which would be overwhelming to some, but the knit pixie was determined that, if she started small, maybe one day she might be as good as them.

Armed with a £10 note, she made her way to the charity shops where she bought needles in different sizes and lots of wool, happy that in this way of knitting, there are no rules, so she could do what she liked. She got home, put the kettle on, made a coffee and got to work.......
